Ringtone Maker helps you make ringtones, alarms, notifications and more for Android devices.

If you want to make custom ringtones as well as notifications and alarms for your Android smartphones and tablets, then Ringtone Maker is a great option. It’s available both as a paid app and as an ad-supported free app, and it provides all the tools you need to make your own ringtones. Better yet, you can make those items from your own music catalogue or other sound files.

With Ringtone Maker, you’re not limited to just making ringtones; you can also make your own music files from larger sources, and that’s thanks in large part to the powerful MP3 editing tools that are included. You can cut, copy and paste. The app provides a scrollable waveform representation at six zoom levels. Splice out your clip by setting a start and end time or by moving two cursors to their respective locations. Adjust the volume for an MP3, fade in and fade out and much more.

Your new creations are automatically stored in the appropriate location, such as sdcard/ringtones, sdcard/notifications, sdcard/alarms and sdcard/music. The app also has tools for managing these items, so that you can, for instance, assign a particular ringtone to a particular contact. Assign alarms and notifications to particular events and event groups and more.

The one area where Ringtone Maker sometimes struggles is when cutting a section from a large file. What kind of large file? Imaging a podcast file that you want to extract a soundbite from. If the source file is too large — which may be device-dependent — the app can freeze up and crash. In those instances, you may be best off cutting the source file down using another app or on your PC first.
